On this 8 day trip you have the chance to visit a world heritage site, explore traditional villages, hot springs, cool off at waterfalls, wander around historical caves and, of course, marvel at the mysterious Plain of Jars.
Day 1. Arrival in Luang Prabang.
Welcome to Laos, our guide will meet you at the airport then we will transfer you to your hotel where you are free to relax and let our guides introduce you to the world heritage site of Luang Prabang, including a visit to the world famous night market in the center of Luang Prabang.
Day 2. Luang Prabang – Nong Khiaw – Muang Ngoi.
We drive for around 4 hours towards the northern part of Luang Prabang province to Nong Khiaw, a small town located on the Nam Ou riverbank, surrounded by a wonderful landscape, we then take a boat up stream to Muang Ngoi Khao, a small, peaceful and calm village. Along the way we visit Ban Soup Van, Ban Sop Kong and Ban Sop Cham (weaving village) before approaching Muang Ngoi Khao, where we stay overnight.
Day 3. Muang Ngoi Khao – Hot springs – Viengthong.
After enjoying breakfast at the guest house, we explore a cave nearby before we cruise back to Nong Khiaw, where we take our minivan to visit some hill tribes villages along the way until reaching the hot springs, after that we continue our excursion to Viengthong, where we stay overnight.
Day 4. Viengthong – Ban Soun Khour – National Protected Area.
After breakfast, we transfer by our minivan for about 1 hour to Ban Soun Khoua, where we take a motor boat up stream for around 3 hours to a camp which is located in the National Protected Area, we then hike for 50 more minutes to visit an ancient temple and continue to the activity starting point until dark. The safari starts by floating down stream to observe wildlife such as: civets, deer, porcupines, lizards etc. until reaching the camp, where we stay overnight.
Day 5. National Protected Area – Salery Waterfall – Xam Nuer.
After breakfast, we take the boat back to Ban Soun Khoua, where we meet our minivan and drive to visit the stone pillars, after that we move over to Salery Waterfall before arriving at Xam Nuer, where we stay overnight at a hotel.
Day 6. Xam Nuer – Vieng Xay – Xam Nuer.
Wake up early to visit the morning market before breakfast, we then drive to Vieng Xayto visit the place where The Pathet Lao was born, experience villager sweaving with traditional Lao weaving techniques, next we move on to visit the caves which protected the Lao leaders during the secret war before returning back to Xam Nuer.
Day 7. Xam Nuer – Vieng Kham – Xieng Kouang.
After breakfast, we take an excursion and drive to Vieng Kham to explore the Tham Piew cave, where an estimated more than 350 refugees from the war died during the bomb attack before approaching Xieng Kouang, where we stay overnight at a hotel.
Day 8. Xieng Kouang – Plain of Jars.
Following breakfast, we drive to visit the plain of jars sites 1, 2 and 3. Along the way we stop at some nearby villages in the areas to find out more about the still unclear history of the archaeological stone jars which date back to about 1800 years ago. In the afternoon we continue to drive for around one more hour to visit Muang Khoun which is the old capital of Xieng Kouang, in this area we will see some ruins left over from the war. Overnight stay at a hotel.
Day 9. Hotel – Airport.
Breakfast, then you are free to explore Xieng Kouang and then we transfer you to the airport for your next destination.
