This 6 day tour involves trekking through unforgettable landscapes, visiting ethnic minority villages, river cruises and exploring a historically important cave before arriving in the world famous city of Luang Prabang. There are also options for the more active traveler to enjoy extra sporting activities.
Day 1. Houy Xai – Luang Namtha.
Wake up early and visit the morning market with it’s local fresh products before breakfast, we then have an excursion to Luang Namtha. Along the way we visit some hill tribe villages and the Lao Kao cave then we trek through Nam Ha which is a National Protected Area before reaching Luang Namtha. We have an opportunity to experience weaving with villagers at Namngand village, we then move on to an Akha village and explore an old stupa (That Poumpook) before returning back to Luang Namtha for an overnight stay.
Day 2. Luang Namtha – Muangsing – Luang Namtha.
After enjoying breakfast, we head up to Muangsing where there is an ethnic minority town, on the way we visit some hill tribe villages home to the Lantan, Akha, Yao, Thaidam, Thailue and Hmong ethnic minorities. Finally, we return back to Luang Namtha and stay there overnight.
Day 3. Optional tour: 2 day trekking in Nam Ha protected area or Leaving from Luang Namtha
Day 3. Luang Namtha – Oudomxay – Muang Khoua.
After breakfast, we transfer to Oudomxay, on the way we can enjoy the wonderful landscape and visit some Khmu villages before reaching Oudomxay, where we will stop for lunch. After lunch we continue on to Muang Khoua, which is a small town located on the Nam Ou riverbank, we will stay here overnight.
Day 4. Muang Khoua – Muang Ngoi.
After finishing our breakfast at the restaurant, we cruise downstream on the Nam Ou river to Muang Ngoi, on our trip we visit Ban Hatsa (whiskey making village), a Khmu village and Ban Sop Cham (weaving village). We then pass through a beautiful landscape with amazing scenery until arriving at Muang Ngoi, where we stay overnight.
Day 5. Muang Ngoi – Nong Khiaw – Luang Prabang.
After breakfast, we cruise for about 1 hour to Nong Khiaw where we take the minivan and begin our excursion to Pak Ou cave, taking about 3 hours. The caves remain a popular pilgrimage site for Lao people who ceremonially wash the Buddha statues during the Lao New Year, we take time to explore the lower and upper caves before we head up to Luang Prabang, where we stay overnight.
Day 6. Optional tours: 1day trekking, 1 day kayaking, 1 day cycling and 1 day multi-sport tour.
Day 7. Hotel – Airport.
Breakfast then you are free to relax before we transfer you to the airport for your next destination.
