A great way to be introduced to the beauty and splendor of Laos. After a scenic cruise the tour is spent trekking through bamboo forests, rice paddies then visiting villages (to sample their products) and a historical cave, before enjoying a relaxing river cruise ending at the world heritage site of Luang Prabang.
Day 1. Houy Xai – Pak Bang.
Pick up from Houy Xai (Thailand / Laos border), we then start the scenic river journey on the majestic Mekong river, you will pass through a stunning landscape and experience the unique life of local people on the Mekong riverbanks until reaching Pak Bang in the late afternoon where you will stay overnight.
Day 2. Pak Bang – Muang Larh – Paknamnoi – Bountai.
After breakfast, we transfer you to Bountai. On our trip we stop in Muang Larh to explore the mysterious temple of Muangla, we then move on to Paknamnoi which is meeting point for hill tribe people who come to buy or sell jungle products on half and full moon days. Finally we arrive at Bountai.
Day 3. Trekking from Bountai – Ban Mouchinampock – Ban Japaewluang.
Depart from your hotel after breakfast, we first drive downhill towards the southeast of Bountai to the trekking starting point at Ban Mouchinampock. On the way to Ban Japaewluang we pass a few villages on the trail, which is a little hilly, past rice fields and a spring can be seen along the way until we finally reach the village, where we will stay overnight.
Day 4. Trekking from Ban Japaewluang – Ban Japaewnoy – Ban Mokkokluang – Ban Mokkoknoy.
After enjoying breakfast with our Akha hosts, we start trekking up and down hills through deep and dense forest, pass an upland field, see wonderful landscape and beautiful scenery until reaching Ban Mokkokluang (Akha tribe), lunch is provided in this village. After that we head up to Ban Mokkoknoy for an overnight stay.
Day 5. Ban Mokkoknoy – Muang Khoua.
Following breakfast, we begin the trek. Today the trail leads us through bamboo and banana forests, rice paddies, fantastic landscape and unspoilt scenery along the way before reaching Ban Namly where the minivan will be waiting for us to transfer us to Muang Khoua, where we will stay overnight.
Day 6. Muang Khoua – Muang Ngoi.
After enjoying breakfast, we cruise on the Nam Ou river to Muang Ngoi which is a peaceful place for a relaxing time. On the way wonderful landscape and scenery can be enjoyed. We also visit Ban Hatsa (whiskey making village), Khmu village and Ban Sop Cham (weaving village). We then pass through more beautiful landscape and scenery until arriving at Muang Ngoi, where we will stay overnight.
Day 7. Muang Ngoi – Nong Khiaw – Luang Prabang.
After breakfast, we take a cruise for about 1 hour to Nong Khiaw where we take the minivan and drive for around 3 hours to Pak Ou Cave, the cave remains a popular pilgrimage site for Lao people who ceremonially wash the Buddha statues during the Lao New Year, we take time to explore the lower and upper caves before we head up to Luang Prabang, where we stay overnight.
Day 8. Hotel – Luang Prabang Airport.
Breakfast, then you are free until the time of your transfer to the airport for your next destination.
